Biography
Who Giovani Gutiérrez is
An editor who would rather check twice than correct once.
Guadalajara
Giovani lives in Guadalajara, Jalisco, a city he knows better from a bike than from a car. He likes neighborhood markets, long conversations after lunch and July afternoon rain, even when it cancels a ride.
The work
He works as an editor and fact-checker. In practice he spends much of the day with two windows open: the text to be published and the source behind it. When they disagree, the source wins. He is currently senior editor and fact-checker at casinosonline.org.mx.
How he works
His rule is simple: if it can't be checked, it isn't stated. He would rather write "not published" than fill a gap with a guess. When someone points out a mistake, he finds the source first and corrects second.
What he values
Clarity, punctuality and a shared table. He wants the same thing from editing and from cooking: everything in its place, and no one noticing the effort.
